   Proposal Description:
   Recently described single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with Alzheimer disease (AD) and Parkinson disease (PD) are based on clinical diagnoses that show different degrees of specificity for underlying neuropathologic findings and it is common that subjects with AD neuropathological diagnosis have coincident Lewy body pathology (LBP). We hypothesize that some of the SNPs associated with clinical AD diagnosis might show different degrees of association with coincident LBP in AD and that SNPs associated with PD might predict LBP in AD neuropathological cases. To evaluate our hypothesis we will assess the association between previously described AD and PD SNPs with coincident LBD in all NACC AD neuropathologically diagnosed cases with GWAS data.
